DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Interstate Highway System records Interstate 80 in Poweshiek County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Interstate System.

Interstate 80 begins on the Poweshiek‑Jasper County line approximately 4 miles southwest of Grinnell, and travels easterly to the Poweshiek‑Iowa County line approximately 2 miles south of Victor, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Interstate 80 in Poweshiek County as follows:

Beginning at the Poweshiek‑Jasper County line at a point near the W ¼ Corner Section 31‑T80N‑R16W, Poweshiek County (E ¼ Corner Section 36‑T80N‑R17W, Jasper County); thence easterly through the center part of Sections 31, 32 (Iowa 146 interchange), 33, 34, 35 and 36‑T80N‑R16W; Sections 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 (US 63 interchange) and 36‑T80N‑R15W; Sections 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 and 36‑T80N‑R14W, and Sections 31, 32, 33 (Iowa 21 interchange), 34, 35, and 36‑T80N‑R13W to the Poweshiek‑Iowa County line at a point near the E ¼ Corner Section 36-T80N‑R13W, Poweshiek County (W ¼ Corner Section 31‑T80N‑R12W, Iowa County).

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Interstate 80 in Poweshiek County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
